“The Giant’s Causeway’
The Giant’s Causeway is an area of interlocking basalt columns rock formation in north Antrim between Ireland and Scotland ending in similar rock formation in Scotland called Fingals Cave
This is the Legend of how it was made…. Children love this version…..
Once upon a time there was a great Irish warrior Giant named Fionn mac Cumhaill of the North of Ireland going back many years.
He had two Irish wolfhounds named Seolan and Bran. To his dismay, another Giant who lived in Scotland called Bennadonner was threatening the North of Ireland.
So Fionn mac Cumhaill got great chunks of rocks from the Antrim coast, and threw them between Ireland and Scotland, and thus the Giants Causeway was made to stop Bennadonner threatening.
Then Bennadonor, this big giant from Scotland decided to come over first to catch Fionn mac Cumhaill.
He strolled over on on the Causeway that was built from these rocks that fell into the sea. When Fionn Mc Cumhaill saw him, he got an awful Fright, and he said, “oh my God this Giant Bennadonner is much bigger than me”
He told his wife about it, and his wife made a plan.
“Fionn you pretend to be a baby. And when the Bennadonner see you he’s going to say to himself ” if that’s his baby then he must be a very big Giant”.
So with that plan, he dressed up as a baby, and put on a bonnet, a soother, and he his legs were stuck out of the pram.
Suddenly Bennadnner came bursting into Fionn mcCumhall’s house and he says “Where’s Fionn mac Cumhaill and his wife says,
“Oh, he’s not here, but here’s this baby. in the pram. When Bennaonner saw the baby, he got an awful fright and said “well if that’s his baby he must be MUCH bigger than me”.
He ran back over this Causeway bridge, picked up the rocks thus destroying the bridge so Fionn McCool couldn’t catch Bennaonner. And then, When Fionn realized what Bennaonner done he was happy because he knew that Bennaonner wouldn’t try and attack him anymore.
